By all accounts, we had a hugely successful conference on February 9, 2011 titled “Leading the Nation: A Texas Retrospective on Educational Reform,” segments of which we plan to post to our website sometime in the coming weeks. The magic, of course, was the incredible team effort it took to pull it all together masterfully and the quality of the presentations together with the conference framework itself. That is, for the audience, it was helpful to see what the differences are between the worlds of scholars and researchers and those of policymakers. TCEP also showed how its approach to policy that we term, “engaged policy,” has potential to positively shape education reform in ways that are research-based, community-oriented, and inclusive. Compliments of our partner, IXL Media Group, the conference program may be accessed here.
